Excitement building for 2025 West Cork Rally

Kevin O'Driscoll

The Clonakilty Park Hotel West Cork Rally will continue as a three-day event for 2025 and will take place from 14th to the 16th of March. As with last year, the rally will have eighteen special stages over the weekend and will include two stages in the dark on the first night. The stages travel over some of the most scenic roads in the country with several sections not having been used for many years.

Steve Davis returns as Clerk of the Course and the Clonakilty Park Hotel will again be Rally Headquarters. The West Cork Business and Technology Park hosts the service aera for the rally weekend.

Steve Davis said “We are delighted to have the Clonakilty Park Hotel back on board as title sponsor and we thank them for their continued support. Thank you also to our associate sponsors, Clonakilty Blackpudding, Keohane Readymix, Clonakilty Chamber of Commerce, Cork County Council and Tria Energy who are coming on board this year. We would also like to acknowledge Calor for their support over the years.”

With the postponement of the Galway International Rally, the West Cork Rally will become the opening round of the NAPA Autoparts Irish Tarmac Rally Championship for International, National & Junior crews and the second round for Historic crews. 2024 winners and Tarmac Champions Keith Cronin & Mikie Galvin are expected to be back to defend their crown on St. Patrick’s weekend. Entries which opened at the start of the week are coming in steadily with much interest across the various categories.

Main field entrants will tackle eighteen stages over the three days, with the Historics joining the rally on the Saturday morning, and they will attempt fourteen stages in total. The Junior Rally will consist of the six Sunday stages. Junior competitors are reminded that if they marshal on the first two days, they will get a discount of €125 on their entry fee. The rally launch will take place at the Park Cinema, Clonakilty at 3pm on Sunday 23rd February and all are welcome.
